Ring Ouzel @ Cissbury Ring Sunday 18th October 2015
I've only been to Cissbury Ring once before and that was 16 years ago when I dipped the last remaining Sussex Golden Pheasant. Every year this site gets good number of Ring Ouzels and after dipping the Pallid Harrier last week, I was keen on adding a good passage bird to my 2015 yearlist.
The walk from the car park to the Yew tree where the Ouzel's frequent is uphill for 1/3 mile to an area called Cissbury Ring. The view once you get to the Yew tree is amazing and I can see why birders regularly visit here. I saw Ring Ouzel within 5 mins of arriving. I had a flight view of one that shot out of the Yew tree into deep cover in the nearby bramble bushes. I stayed on site for 5 hours and the only time these Ouzels were photographable was when I managed this shot. Two perched for 10 seconds and shot off about 5 pictures.
Bernie Forbes arrived at 4pm and he managed to count 5 Ring Ouzel's leave the Yew tree.
